I saw rare red kites released
Updated 13 July 2004, 14.16

Lois was whisked off to a secret location to help release some rare birds of prey back into the UK.

"I went to a top secret location, somewhere in the north of England.

One of the most amazing birds of prey was being released back into the wild here for the first time.

The red kite is an amazing bird - if it was a car it would probably be a Ferrari - it's fast, it's huge, it's powerful and with its red tail it's really beautiful.

There are loads of red kites in other parts of the country but they are under threat.

Getting used to the wild life!

There are hardly any in the north of England.

The birds have been given special tags and even a special computer chip to help experts see how they're doing.

More red kites will be released into the wild in the next few years.

If you're lucky - and you look hard enough - you might even get to see one yourself!"

Lois, 12, somewhere in the north of England

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
