  I'm a cup stacking champion
Updated 09 June 2004, 08.11
Kate with her medals
Cup stacking is a sport where you have to arrange cups in various formations in record time.

Kate recently competed in the World Championships in the USA and in her report she tells us how she got on.

"I like to do a sport which is quite new in the UK but is very popular in other countries especially America.

The name of my sport is Cup Stacking - no, I'm not mad!

Lightening speed

Cup Stacking is an activity where you have to stack and un-stack 12 specially designed cups at lightening speed!

I have been 'stacking' now for 18 months and this year competed in the World Championships for the second time.

Local favourite

In the 14-18 age group 3-6-3 Stack finals, I came second to World Record holder Emily Fox with a best time of 3.21 seconds.

And in the Cycle Stack finals, I produced the shock of the tournament when I beat local favourite and World Record holder Emily Fox to take gold in a time of 8.76 seconds!

Overall in the World Championships I came third in both the Cycle and 3-6-3 Stacks, and also claimed a fourth place in the doubles tournament.

New British record

I set a personal best in practice and my winning time in the Cycle Stack is a new British Record!

I feel really lucky to have been given the opportunity to compete, it's a great sport!"

Kate, 15, Essex

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
