  Fox hunting: right or wrong?
Updated 15 September 2004, 08.20

A ban on fox hunting in England and Wales is going to be voted on in parliament on Wednesday.

In her report Natasha gives her thoughts on both sides of the fox hunting debate.

"Fox hunting - it has been around for about 300 years and was started as only a privilege to the Royal Family.

Now it has grown to cover the whole of the UK.

But what we all want to know is: is it right or wrong?

Fox hunting is a very controversial topic.

Stay or go?

There are people who believe it should be banned and people who believe it should continue.

I am not on either side but I can understand both.

People who believe it should be banned think it is cruel to the foxes, what did they ever do to you?

They also think that animal murder should not be played as a sport.

Lose jobs

People who believe it should continue can believe more than one thing.

They may believe:

  • It is a traditional sport, why should it be banned?

  • Lots of families will lose jobs and homes if it is banned

I cannot decide myself, so I think I have the perfect solution.

Fox hunting would be banned, but all workers who would be out of a job would get a training course so they can find another job.

This would be free of course."
