Estonia is one of 10 new countries joining the EU on 1 May 2004.

We've asked 14-year-old Priit who lives in Estonia to tell us a little bit about life in his country.


What sports do you play?
I play tennis but I'm a big fan of extreme sports

Who is your sporting hero?
Rodney Mullen, the skateboarder


What's your favourite TV show?
Arapanija - where two hosts make fun of Estonian everyday life and problems

What's your favourite film?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy

What's your favourite book?
The Lord of the Rings

What's your favourite type of music?
R&B and drum n bass, plus I like Estonian music

Who's the biggest international singer/group in your country?
Eda-Ines Etti, Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and Kerli Koiv - pop artists


What's your favourite subject at school?
Music

What is your country famous for?
We have some of the best skiers in the world (Andres Veerpalu and Jaak Mae). We have also won Eurovision.

What do you like best about your country?
I like Estonian music

What does the European Union mean to you?
The EU means a lot to me. I see it as a window of opportunity for Estonian tourism, culture and youth

Travelling to another EU country will be easier, so will be studying in a foreign school or university

The EU is already funding the fixing of roads in my country (which is a big problem), I can't wait to see what they do next
