My website teaches the importance of water
Updated 16 April 2004, 08.21
E-Ray
The Childnet Awards recognise some of the best sites on the internet created by young people around the world.

In our fifth and final special Press Pack report 11-year-old E-Ray from Taiwan tells us all about his winning website.

"My website offers a space for children around the world to cooperate, share their ideas and advice on water-related activities.

For example, the measurement and collection of rainfall.

Many questions

When I read the documents of the World Water Summit and studied the collection of rain for plants in my backyard.

Testing some water
I discovered that water is so ecologically important to human beings.

I had so many questions. How polluted was that water? How does it benefit us?

But lots of people don't realise its importance.

Hours walking

I once heard a story from India.

Some women there spend 3-4 hours per day just walking to and from their homes for water.

If we can offer them a chance to learn some skills through information technology, maybe it will improve their lives."

E-Ray, 11, Taiwan

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
