In his report, John tells us what it was like seeing his hero and let's us in on some cool book gossip!

"I went to see Eoin Colfer speaking about his new book at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

He was talking about his latest book, The Supernaturalist. I've read it already - it's great. He read a passage from that book, then he did a question and answer session, and talked about his next book which he said would be called The Legend of Spud Murphy.

Eoin Colfer talked about where he gets his ideas from for the different characters in his books, like Artemis Fowl. It was really interesting.

Artemis Fowl films

In the Q and A, loads of people wanted to know where he gets his inspiration from and about the Artemis Fowl films, which will be coming out in the future. More on that later!

But he did say the next book was going to be called Artemis Fowl and the Opal Deception.

He also said they were going to make The Supernaturalist into a film too, which will be great!

I found out a lot of stuff. It was really good. I really enjoyed it. Eoin Colfer is definitely one of my favourite authors.

Films will be big!

He talked for an hour. Lots of people asked questions but I didn't get time to ask my question. I wanted to ask him who will play Artemis Fowl in the film of the book. But he said in someone else's question that he didn't know who the actors were yet.

He did say the script was written. And the script for The Supernaturalist is being written by the same person who wrote the script for The Pirates of the Caribbean. So these films are going to be big!

And it sounds like they'll be making a whole lot more.
