My country is shocked by the bombs
Updated 13 March 2004, 12.50
Flowers and candles outside a train station in Madrid following the bomb blasts in the city
Mar lives in Madrid and in her report she describes what it's like being there after the attacks on the city.

"I feel bad about what has happened in Madrid, I did not expect it. It is a very desperate and sad situation.

I was in the school when it happened. Two girls came to the classroom and told us about the attack.

My first reaction was surprise and we all started talking about it.

Then we left the school and went home so we could see what was happening on television.

That night we went to a demonstration against the bombings.

People everywhere

Millions of demonstrators against the attacks marched in the streets of Madrid
Demonstrators in the streets of Madrid
We also went to the demonstration on Friday.

I was very sad because there were many people feeling bad.

I went with my parents and a friend of mine. We were walking hours and hours, there were so many people on the streets it was difficult to get home.

I cannot believe what happened, I had never had an experience like this.

My friends are sad as well, some of them have lost close relatives.

It can be felt on the street and in school.

On TV

At home we have been talking about it a lot.

The TV is showing the images and information about what has happened all the time and it makes you feel very sad.

And it is a very upsetting moment for Spain, we are all very stunned by what has happened."

Mar, 14, Madrid
