We dressed up to raise money for other kids
Updated 06 February 2004, 17.35
Children raised money for the Unicef Day For Change
Pupils all over the UK went to school in their own clothes as part of the Unicef Day For Change on Friday.

Kids paid money to either wear their fave outfits or fancy dress, to raise cash for children in other countries.

Manprit tells us what it was like at her school.

"Everyone at our school came in their home clothes for the day and paid 50 pence or more for the Unicef Day For Change.

We were raising money for children in Ghana and Vietnam. We are hoping to raise 175 towards a well.

Floods in Thailand mean lots of kids can't get to school
Ghana is a very dry country. In Ghana people walk many kilometres to get water. Ghana suffers from a lack of water.

In Vietnam they have dirty water from floods. Vietnam suffers severe annual flooding.

Brilliant day

This term in our school, the West Town School in Peterborough, the geography topic for the whole of year five and six is water. Our class did an assembly about water in front of the whole school. The message in the assembly was for people to appreciate the water we have in this country.

We also made posters to put up around the school to remind the children to bring money for the Day For Change.

I enjoyed being in my home clothes for the day. I also enjoyed the class assembly which was fun - it was a brilliant day!"

Manprit, 10, Cambs
