The Philip Lawrence Awards recognise outstanding projects created by young people from all over the UK.
Oi magazine was one of the projects which has received an award.
And in her report Aminat tells us why she thinks this magazine is important for young people.
"I work on Oi magazine which was created for young people to have a voice in the North Lewisham area of London.
The subjects the magazine deals with include teenage pregnancy, crime and safety and has a problems page.
But it also cover less serious issues such as fashion and there's even a jokes page.
New skills
There's about 15 of us who work on the magazine after school.
It's good for us because we are learning new skills which are involved in producing a magazine.
So far four editions have been made with 5,000 magazines printed for each issue.
Oi is free and gets distributed in schools in Lewisham, libraries, youth clubs and some shops.
I think the magazine is a great idea as it lets young people express their views as well as informing them about issues that matter to them.
Positive message
It's really exciting that we won a Philip Lawrence award which was presented by the Home Secretary, David Blunkett.
It's a symbol of how hard we have worked and our magazine shows that young people can do positive things in the community."

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
