Holes the film is fun and exciting!
Updated 17 October 2003, 13.35
Joseph went to review Holes for Newsround
Joseph reports on the new movie Holes, based on the popular book by Louis Sachar.

"I'm reading the book Holes in school at the moment.

My teacher told us they were making a film of it so I entered Newsround's competition so I could get to see it - and I won!

Stanley digs holes

The story's about a boy called Stanley who went walking when some trainers fall out of the sky.

He is accused of stealing them and so he's sent to a camp to dig holes.

Stanley finds out they're not digging for punishment, but they're digging to find something.

Meeting the director

Joseph went to review Holes for Newsround
I interviewed the director and it was really interesting.

I asked him if he would be making any more movies with the author and he said he would try to.

I was really nervous interviewing him because I really wanted to meet him.

Read the book too!

The film was like the book but some bits have been changed.

I don't think it was better than the book but it was really good.

It would probably be better for someone who wants to watch the movie to read the book first - it's easier to understand.

I think it will make a good kids film, and I'm going to tell my friends to watch it because it's fun and exciting."

Joseph, 12, London
