Saturday, 17 May 2003 is World Fair Trade Day.

Sarah thinks that we can make a difference to people's lives if we support Fair Trade.

And in her report she suggests things we can do.

"Do you know how much effort and time is put into the clothes you wear and the food you eat?

This report is telling you about the unfair trade around the world.

Take coffee for instance. Doesn't seem much to buy in the shops but the amount of effort, sweat and hard work that has gone into that jar of coffee is too much to imagine.

Unfair wages

And to make it even worse, the farmers in Africa and India who made that coffee are getting a tiny percentage of the fortune the sellers are making.

But how can I help you say? Well you can just buy fair trade items. Fair trade give the farmers the right amount of money.

Also the clothing industry is another way for sellers to make money.

Write to the Prime Minister

Young children and adults in the Third World are employed to make them and are only given a tiny wage.

The skills of the people out there are amazing.

What can I do to help? Write to Tony Blair and do something about the cruelty going on in the world."

Sarah, 12, Bristol

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
