  Order of the Phoenix review

Laura speed reading
Speed reader Laura, 14, finished reading all 766 pages of OOTP just 2 hours and 19 minutes after it hit the shelves.

Here's her verdict on the fifth Potter instalment:

"It was a lot longer so it was a lot deeper.

Harry was a lot more angry, but that seemed very natural.

He went through a lot in book four and he's getting more mature, so it was just the way he was feeling.

There were a lot of new names and the story's built around the Ministry of Magic. It was dark - even darker than books three and four.

It dragged at the start. Everything had to be explained and the new characters introduced. That was the only slightly boring bit.

I'd say the new Defence Of The Dark Arts teacher is my favourite new character.

She's not a particularly nice person, but she brings a lot to the story. She doesn't get on with Harry too well, leading to alarming consequences.

There's not so much of Draco in this story. There are a few amusing moments, but overall this book is quite sinister. It's so gripping - it's like a thriller.

The best bit was without doubt the death scene. It was so emotional. When I read it, I gasped.

My eyes were welling up, but I tried hard not to cry because I would have had to stop reading!

The death is right at the end of the book. I was getting faster because I wanted to find out who it would be. That was great motivation!

I'd give OOTP nine out of ten. It was really good. Now I'm going to go home and read it slowly."
