  My dad lives abroad
Updated 29 April 2003, 08.27

Susan has lived apart from her dad, who lives in Singapore for six years.

She tells us her problems

"Most people think my parents are divorced but they are not. We used to live out in Singapore too, but came home because my sister got accepted into a really good school.

I really miss my dad because I only get to see him for about three weeks of the year.

People don't understand

Lots of people live with their dads working in another country. People just don't realise that this happens.

If you say my dad lives abroad they automaticaly think your parents are divorced. I have a friend whose parents are divorced and she sees her dad more than me!

Seen amazing things

My family has moved around the world and lived in lots of different places and I have seen some AMAZING things but I really miss my dad.

I'd much rather not have seen all those places if my dad could come home and live with us again.

I know that he's not in nearly as much danger as people who have dads in the Gulf, but hopefully their dads will come home soon but I dont think my dad will!"

Susan, 14, England
