We do not want blood and destruction
Updated 08 April 2003, 09.14

Rami lives in Cairo, Egypt.

In his report about the war with Iraq he tells us that Egyptians say they will boycott American and British goods in protest.

"In Egypt, specifically in Cairo, thousands of people are demonstrating against the war in Iraq - not because they love Saddam but because they love Iraq and its people.

We do not want blood and destruction.

Why now?

People here ask themselves many questions: What made America accuse Iraq only now of having weapons of mass destruction?

Or they think that America entered Iraq for oil.

Some people also say America has a black list of countries which it will attack after Iraq.

Egyptian people protesting
Egyptians say they want to boycott American and British goods in protest over the war, but very few do.

Horror film

The main subject of my conversation with my friends is what the Americans will do to Iraq.

We speak about it in class and many of us has likened the war to a horror film you usually see on TV.

The TV is always reporting on the war. And I think it is too much. There is no relief at all."
