Joana is against keeping animals in zoos.
She says animals can suffer and also thinks there are other ways to conserve rare creatures.
"Having visited several zoos in the past year I am now strongly against the keeping of animals in cages, in the name of conservation.
In the last zoo that I visited it was plain to see how small the animals enclosures were and how stressed and sad the animals looked.
A lot of the animals there were behaving in unnatural ways.
Small cages
The animals that I saw were pacing up and down in their cages.
Birds like the giant macaws were plucking their feathers and climbing up and down in their very small cages and unable to fly like they do naturally.
Macaws are great flyers and are used to flying long distances to find food and water.
The giraffes were walking round in circles, constantly in their enclosure with grounds that seemed to be made out of concrete.
New technology
I think traditional zoos should move with the times and use new technology to teach kids about animals and wildlife.
