I met the stars at the Comic Relief launch
Updated 07 February 2003, 19.00

Press packer Pryanca reported for Newsround on Comic Relief Red Nose day 2003 launch.

"Comic Relief is the biggest laugh of the year and you can make money for really good causes.

I first got involved with Comic Relief when my teacher gave each class 5 and told us to go off and use our imaginations to raise even more money for charity.

We went round supermarkets and got them to donate chocolate bars, which we then sold at school. We raised 200. Not bad for a fiver.

The launch

This year, Comic Relief's theme is Big Hair Dos and Newsround sent me down to the launch.

There were loads of celebs on hand to ask what they are doing to their hair.

Gareth Gates showed me his red streaks!

Patrick Kielty seemed to enjoy the fact that his hair was thickened out.

Top tips

On asking, Lenny Henry rattled off a huge list of fund raising ideas:

  • wear stupid wig to school
  • sit in bath of baked beans
  • organise a school disco where you just wear your pants.

Pryanca, 13
