My website has won a top net award!
Updated 23 January 2003, 15.57
Barny
A website for dyslexic children created by 13-year-old Barnaby Blackburn has been voted one of the 12 best sites of 2002 by search engine Yahoo.

Here, he reports on why he thinks it's been such a success.

"Around one in 10 people suffer from dyslexia, a condition which means you have difficulty with words.

I started iamdyslexic.com because I was searching on the net for a child's point of view on dyslexia, and couldn't find anything.

I like getting e-mails

About 250 people from all over the world now look at my website every day.

My favourite part is the message board, where people can talk about dyslexia.

And it's really good when I get e-mails from people telling me how much the site has helped them.

It shows me the point of why I started the site.

My friends also like the site and they've been going on it quite a lot recently. Some have been building their own sites to try and copy me.

But I think it's really important to keep updating it as often as possible.

It's really encouraging

I don't really mind being dyslexic that much - I get to use my computer in lessons.

But having the site is really encouraging and keeps me going."

Barnaby, 13, Godalming

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
