Hi everyone, I'm Laura, I'm 14 and I'm a tennis player.
When I'm not playing in a tournament I train for four hours a day with my coach.
I play at one of four academies for the top young tennis players in Britain.
This is my diary.
27 November-15 January 2003
I've been to Florida to play in the World Championships. First I played in a tournament in Miami called the Prince Cup. I surprised myself by getting to the third round. I expected to go out in the first because I was playing a seed in that round.
Disappointed
Then I trained a bit for the Championships but I didn't do too well, actually! I lost in the first round. I was quite disappointed because I didn't play very well. Maybe I'll try again the year after next.
I've been in Australia on holiday for the last three and a half weeks with my family. It was really hot, sometimes more than 40C! We did lots of sightseeing and touristy things.
Meeting the stars
I couldn't resist going to see the Hopman Cup, the lead-up to the Australian Open. I saw Leyton Hewitt and Serena Williams play. I met Leyton!
My dad asked him if he'd practise with me but he said no. He did come over and say hello, though. But then he lost his next two matches!
Now I've started training again even though I was jetlagged. My next competition is the International Tennis Federation $10,000 in Hull. I'll be playing older players, some might be 18. But at least my injuries have cleared up.
Check back in a month's time to see how Laura did in Hull and how training's going
