My experience of acting for CBBC
Updated 31 October 2002, 09.30
James starred in the short film Recycled
James acted in a film called Recycled, which is going to be on CBBC over Christmas.

It's part of a project called Tartan Smalls, which produces short films for younger children.

Here he talks about the best and worst bits about making his film.

"Making the film was really good fun.

I didn't like the clothes I had to wear - they weren't my style. And as for wearing make-up, pants!

But you have to do these things for your art.

Killer wheelie bins!

In the short film, I play Michael. He and his sister Sarah fight for their lives from man-eating wheelie bins. Weird but good!

Fact File
What's Tartan Smalls all about?
It was a competition to produce short films for kids
Three films have now been made
They're called: Inside An Uncle, Recycled and The Choir
Child actors play the lead roles in each film
You'll be able to see the films on CBBC over Christmas
He was a very interesting character to play as he has a darker side to him.

Favourite scene

It was interesting to see how the film was put together.

The best thing was filming a scene in a toilet!

And we met Sean Biggerstaff (from the Harry Potter film), because we shot the whole film in his house.

Loved every minute

When I did the audition, it was so competitive that I was convinced another boy had got the part.

When I heard I'd got it, I was shocked and excited. It felt great.

Tartan Smalls is a great opportunity for young actors.

I was so lucky to get the part. I loved every minute of it and I did not want it to stop."

James, 13, Glasgow
