I'm bullied because people blame me
Updated 02 September 2002, 09.12
Muniza
Muniza, who lives in London, has been bullied because some people blame Muslims for the terrorist attacks in America.

She reports on how life has got worse for her after 11 September.

"What happened on 11 September was shocking. I was really horrified when I saw the attacks on America.

But everyone was blaming Islam and I was very nervous.

Someone threatened to bomb our school, so it had to shut for a few days.

And I get bullied at school. Kids say things like 'why don't you go back to your own country'. People are blaming us for everything.

I don't understand why anyone would want to harm us for something we weren't involved in.

Can't travel as easily

I've noticed other changes since the attacks.

Security is now tight at airports
Security is now tight at airports
Just recently my cousin was stopped at Heathrow by security guards.

He was going to America and they wouldn't let him board the plane. He thinks it was because he's Muslim.

After a while they let him board the plane but he was very angry.

He travels a lot and he was never stopped before the attacks, and now he gets stopped all the time.

Think about someone's character

I want to go back live the way it was before, before people started blaming all Muslims for terrorist attacks.

People should think about the character of a person, not their religion - and people should start suspecting us less.

I hope everything gets better - at the moment we are all suffering because of what just a few people did."

Muniza, 11, London
