  This show is a must-see!
Updated 30 July 2002, 09.31
It's a circus in the sky!
Imogen saw a circus production called Rubicon by an all-female company called Skinning the Cat and was truly amazed by what she saw.

Here's why she urges everyone to see it!

"Skinning the Cat - Circus of the Sky, don't let the name mislead you!

This show has nothing to do with taking fur off animals.

What it does have to do with is fantastic costumes, amazing scenery and daring acrobatics.

The exotic bird in her cage
Your heart is in your mouth for the whole show as this talented group of young women perform flips and twirls high in the sky.

The plot

They tell the story of the owner of a freak show, who decides to capture a special bird because its feathers are made of gold.

His accomplice charms Serena, the guardian of the bird, and tries to steal it, but fails because the warrior princesses, who protect it, return to save the bird.

The storyline is helped by the colourful and imaginative costumes. They are all wonderfully glittery and exotic.

The show's director Becky Truman in action
The performance is accompanied by specially composed, eerie music, which adds a dramatic effect.

Strange creatures

My favourite moment was when the warrior princesses came in riding strange, camel-like creatures - created entirely by costume and stilt-walking.

Right from the appearance of the strange green beasts from the hammock to the final bike on a wire, riding 20 feet above our heads, this show is a must-see."
