  My Diary: Actor
Updated 19 July 2002, 16.00
Chris got his lucky break playing 'Gavroche' in Les Miserables
Hi everyone, my name's Chris, I'm 14 and I'm an actor.

In 1998 I got my first big break playing Gavroche in the touring West End production of Les Miserables.

Since then I've played The Artful Dodger in Oliver, and have been on TV in Emmerdale, Where the Heart Is, A & E and Bob and Rose.

This is my diary.

Wednesday 19 June
I'm really excited 'cos I've just landed a role in a new series called Burn It with Red Productions.

It's good because they're fun to work with. Last time I got to play football with the crew during breaks from filming which was cool.

The character I'm playing is aged 15 and the year is 1986, so I've got to wear a curly wig.

I've never worn a wig before, so I hope the hairstyles weren't too bad back then!

Remember the wig? Well it's a lot better than I had expected - not as curly as I had feared.

We've started filming on Burn It now and the crew are really cool, particularly the make-up ladies.

Aswell as acting, Chris can also sing and dance

It's now very late - 3am!! We were called to start shooting at 9.30pm but so far nothing. I'm writing this with glue in my hair and clips to hold the wig in place. We've been hanging around for ages, but these things happen!

Sunday 30 June 2002
Hello again. I've just returned from filming and I'm shattered!

I had an "early call" and then had to shoot a scene in a nightclub which was boiling hot. Because of our age we had to drink non-alcoholic beer which tasted really nasty, but hey, sometimes you have to suffer for your art!

I'm in a bit of a flap at the moment as we're holding a school cabaret tomorrow. I'm singing and break dancing. It should be great fun and lucky me doesn't have to go to any lessons all day 'cos of rehearsals.

I went for a couple of auditions yesterday. I think they went pretty well. I'll let you know if I get any of them.

Chris
