  I interviewed Gordon Brown!
Updated 15 July 2002, 17.14
Stephanie meets Gordon Brown
Stephanie was one of three Press Packers who interviewed the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Estelle Morris and Paul Boateng about plans to spend more money on schools.

"We spent about half an hour just talking to Gordon Brown, Estelle Morris and Paul Boateng and then Mr Brown took us on a guided tour around Number 11.

He told us education is the main thing he wants to focus on, which I think is a good thing.

More cash for schools

Gordon Brown
He said he wants to make it more interactive and give everyone the same opportunities. And that he's putting the money in to make it happen.

I asked Gordon Brown what he wanted to change when he was at school - he said he wanted to make it easier for people to be taught as one person instead of as a whole class.

He was really friendly and it was really easy to talk to him - he made you feel very comfortable.

Friendly

He asked us what we wanted to do when we were older - he seemed very interested in what we had to say.

I don't think he has that much to do with young people my age but it was nice that he took time to talk to us.

It was amazing to meet him - he's so powerful and he looks after all the money in the UK. "

Stephanie, 14, County Armagh, NI
