It's Townies vs Moshers where I live
Updated 14 June 2002, 19.19

Jess is worried about all the fighting between different groups in her town.

"I am very concerned about the discrimination between teenagers and young children.

In my area there is loads of conflict between so called 'moshers' and 'townies'.

The typical mosher wears hoodies, baggy jeans, tonnes of bracelets and loves alternative music.

The townie girls have their hair scraped back with massive earrings, puffa jackets and tracksuit pants.

Bullying

This is not biased because I have friends of both. But I cannot stand the conflict which soon turns into bullying.

In my town the townies tend to verbally abuse the moshers just because of the way they look and dress.

But I know that in other areas it is the other way round.

Stop judging

I just wish something could be done to stop all this bullying just because of the type of music you like - it's stupid.

There is enough violence in the world but with the next generation at it too - what is the future going to be like?

I just wish people could do what they want without being judged."

Jess, 15, East Yorkshire
