People should care about the environment
Updated 12 June 2002, 18.48
Ducklings on a river
Faye from West Sussex says that building new houses in her village is damaging the animals that live nearby.

"My village is a lovely village with lots of shops and it also has some beautiful long country walks just waiting to be explored!

Recently some new houses have been built.

I am for these houses being built as they bring new people to the village.

But whilst building these houses they are ruining the countryside.

In the summer I love to go on walks through the woods with my family and friends.

Recently when I was walking we had to cross a stream and the water in it was brown and full of litter.

There was litter in the river where last year there were ducklings swimming.

We also saw some barbed wire surrounding a massive area of sewage!

The smell was disgusting and it really spoiled the surroundings and the habitats of the squirrels and the ducklings that we used to see.

It's great to have new houses so that more people can enjoy the village's beauty but they are going to have to start caring about the environment.

Faye, 13, West Sussex
