What's all the fuss about the Jubilee?
Updated 03 June 2002, 08.43
The Queen
Mark thinks that the Queen should be treated like an ordinary person.

"I personally have nothing against the monarchy.

But in my honest opinion, they are just ordinary people like you or me with no really outstanding talents.

Sports stars

David Beckham
I respect sports stars such as David Beckham and Ronnie O'Sullivan because they are good at their respective sports.

I respect singers such as Kurt Cobain and Eminem because they are good at what they do.

But the Queen? She is nothing special, yet she is the most respected person in the United Kingdom!

She gets paid by the government for doing nothing.

Surely to compensate for this free ride, she must accept a little criticism."

Mark, 15, Wiltshire
