I'd visit the future in a Time Machine!
Updated 20 May 2002, 09.08
Guy Pearce
Press Packer Peter went to see The Time Machine, a film thriller set in both the past and future, starring Guy Pearce and Samantha Mumba. It opens on 31 May.

"The film tells the story of an inventor called Alexander who is determined to prove that time travel is possible. And he has a personal reason for doing so...

Peter
I thought the time machine itself looked good, though it could have had a bit more than just a beam of light shooting out of it.

I liked the scene in the year 2030 when the moon was blowing up.

When the time traveller went into the distant future the film started to remind me of Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes - because of the creatures, called Morlocks.

The people in the future, the Eloi, used a whole new made-up language - that was quite impressive.

Scary stuff

The plot was quite hard to understand at first. It's also quite a scary film.

Samantha Mumba
There's a bit when the time traveller is swimming through a pool of dead bodies and a Morlock grabs him! It made me jump out of my seat.

There was also a hologram character called Vox that was quite good.

I'd recommend this film to my friends, but there are some other good films around like Spider-Man and Star Wars.

If I could time travel, I'd probably go to the future to a time when there's no poverty and world peace and technology is far-advanced - but I don't think that's going to be in my lifetime.

I don't think you should ever go back in time, but leave things how they are."

Peter, 14, Olney
