  Children's forum: A Palestinian view
Updated 09 May 2002, 16.29
Ahmad is concerned about the children suffering where he lives
Ahmad travelled to the forum in New York from the West Bank town of Ramallah.

"I'm here at the children's forum in New York to tell other children about the suffering that's going on in Palestine.

Very dangerous

The fighting between Israelis and Palestinians has been going on for many years

I feel I have no rights as a Palestinian because of the Israeli occupation.

I get discriminated against because I'm Palestinian and we don't have the right to our own country.

Bullet holes

It's very dangerous. In my town of Ramallah there has been a lot of violence.

Most houses have bullet holes and some have even been shot at by missiles.

I want world leaders to know that children in Palestine are suffering, not only physically but in other ways too.

Couldn't go to school

It was very distressing when we had the curfew and we were not allowed to leave our homes.

We couldn't go to school, and we couldn't even go outside.

Children should not be treated like this.

I feel very positive since discussing all these issues with other young people. I just hope that the leaders will now listen."

Ahmad, 16, Ramallah
