  London is full of litter
Updated 17 March 2002, 13.29
Rubbish on the streets
Lara asks why people drop litter and leave rubbish on the streets.

"I live in London and every day the streets are full of people's litter and rubbish which has been abandoned or dropped.

The roads in my area are full of dumped cars. They attract criminals and vandals who steal seats and radios and then set the cars alight.

It's horrible walking down the road with burnt metal lying on the pavements, and the worse part is nothing is ever done about it.

The streets are bad enough with crisp packets and chewing gum, but now larger and more hazardous objects are being left.

Rubbish dump
It's not just cars being dumped. Sofas, TVs, baths and even fridges are left in main roads because they're not working.

I am very concerned about the increase in the amount of rubbish on the streets in Britain and I feel that nothing is being done to make sure people stop dropping litter

I hope that other people feel the same about their local area, so together we can crack down on litter on our roads."
