'We all miss Amy very much'
Updated 12 March 2002, 15.07
Amy Nichol
Teenager Amy Nicholls is believed to have been killed by a crocodile while she was swimming in a lake in Kenya last week.

Charlotte goes to Amy's former school.

Here she describes how the pupils were told about 18-year-old Amy's tragic death in Africa.

"On Friday, a girl who used to go to our school was attacked by crocodiles in Kenya.

She was dragged under the water while swimming in a lake she had been told was safe. Amy was in her gap year before going on to university.

I go to the same school as Amy Nicholls went to and we were all called to the assembly hall, where our headmistress told us that Amy's body had been found this morning.

Most of us were crying

She and our school chaplain said very moving words and most of the school were crying.

Amy was really nice, and she was a very good student, getting good marks in all her A Levels.

I think that people should know about what happened, so they can be more careful when they go to dangerous places.

Thank you for reading this. We all miss Amy very much. "

Charlotte, St Albans
