So we started fund-raising. We received a grant from the council and local companies also donated money to set it up.

In the end we raised £45,000, more than we had hoped.

We did a survey to find out if young people had the internet in their homes and how much they used it.

We then decided that we would make it an internet cafe because it was something that not many people had access to.

And now we have opened. But because students are at school during the day we are open from 4pm onwards.

A cyber cafe

We rely on voluntary help to run the cafe and we also have an IT instructor to help with the computers.

Even the adults have shown an interest in wanting to learn about computers so maybe during the day this is what the cafe could be used for.

It's quite unbelievable the response we've had to this project and I'm glad it's going to help make Buntingford a nice and safer place to live."
