'It's my choice to be veggie'
Updated 25 February 2002, 09.16
Vegetables
Aimee explains why she's chosen to be a vegetarian.

"I have been a vegetarian a long time now. I have been judged for what I believe in but that still doesn't changed my views.

There are loads of reasons why people are vegetarian.

Sometimes it isn't even their choice - some religions believe that some animals like cows or sheep are sacred.

However it's my choice to be vegetarian - I decided I didn't want to eat meat for two reasons.

Were Adam and Eve veggie?

Firstly, I don't see the point in eating a dead animal when you can eat so many things instead.

Also, if the Bible is true then how come Adam and Eve decided to eat the fruit instead of any animals?

I'm not writing this to change anyone's beliefs but I'm trying to make people understand mine.

People are so into what they believe they find it hard to understand what other people mean.

I try to explain but they always think that because the majority of people are meat eaters, I should be one too.

Be open minded

I don't see why people feel the need to eat an animal, something that once lived like you and I.

If I was starving and all there was to eat was an animal then I would consider eating it, but that's just survival.

I wouldn't eat it just because I felt like it. I hope people reading this are open-minded and understand."
