  Dressing up for charity
Updated 22 February 2002, 09.03
Abba win the final at the school's charity event
Joanna's school had a fun way of raising money for their local charity.

"In my school we did a 'Stars in their Eyes' charity event that everybody enjoyed and was really good fun.

Every week for four weeks pupils put on performances of singing, dancing, playing instruments or maybe even all three.

Audience vote

A lot of pupils in our school took part, either performing or buying a ticket to be in the audience.

The audience then voted on who they wanted to go through to the finals.

Abba won on our grand final night and we raised just under 2,000 for our local charity Face (Fighting Against Cancer in Edinburgh).

I think that it is a really good idea and I think more schools should do a charity event that's similar."

Joanna, 13, Edinburgh
