  Living in a war zone
Updated 05 February 2002, 10.13

Samantha thinks it's easy to forget how difficult it is for people living in war zones.

"When war breaks out in a foreign country it's easy to ignore it and detach yourself from it - after all it's nothing to do with you and has no effect on your life.

But what if you know someone who lives in a war zone?

After getting to know a girl over the internet I've realised just how harsh war is.

Map showing Israel
She lives in Israel and has to handle loss every day.

After reading a message from her saying she might not speak to me again I felt so many unbelievable emotions.

Role model

I realised just what she had to go through and just how hard her life is.

To be honest her bravery astounds me and I can honestly say that I view her as a role model."

Samantha, 14, Hull
