'Even the lollipop lady knows your business!'
Updated 07 January 2002, 08.46
The journey from Brighton to Stirling
Amber, 9, moved from Brighton to Stirling a few months ago. Here she reports on the differences between the towns.

"I've lived in Brighton all my life but my mum decided we'd move up here to be closer to her family - my aunts and cousins.

When I started at my new school I didn't know anyone there apart from my cousins but they're all in different classes.

My new school is much bigger than my old school - here some years are split into three classes!

Children at my new school are a bit different too. They seem a bit younger than me and they're into different clothes and music.

They're all into S CLub 7 and Britney, but I'd rather listen to more clubby music like So Solid Crew and Jamiroquai.

Everyone's friendly

Stirling is quite small and everyone knows everyone - even the lollipop lady knows your business!

They're very friendly here but also a bit nosy.

Brighton is very different - people only speak to you if they already know you.

Here, anyone will come over and talk.

I don't know how long we'll stay here - mum has said we'll try it for a year, then we could always move back to Brighton.

Brighton is much warmer

The one good thing about living in Stirling is you can go for lots of nice long walks and there's lots of countryside.

But I do miss Brighton - the weather is much warmer there. "
