Celebrating the euro with a cake in Germany

Most EU countries will also use the Euro.

Some Irish people are not happy with this, especially the older people because they think prices will rise.

I also think it is a bad thing because it means that we no longer have our own currency and we lose a bit of our identity.

Maybe after a while we might get used to it but at the moment I am not so sure.

People are afraid of change

Sean: I think some of the prices might rise but there shouldn't be a big difference.

The main reason that people are against it is because they are afraid of change.

But the government has done a lot of work in making people aware of the changes and letting them know of the benefits.

It will certainly take time to get used to this new currency but when they do I'm sure they will agree that joining the Euro is a good thing.
