  'Animals have feelings too'
Updated 21 December 2001, 11.13
Fox hunting
Melissa, 12, believes there's too much animal cruelty in the world. Here's what she writes.

"I had a chat in a room full of people and asked what they thought about animal cruelty. Most of them said that they thought it was awful and I totally agree.

But a few of them said that they thought things like fox hunting was a good thing to keep the population of animals down.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I definitely do not agree.

Woman protesting against fox hunting

Disappointed

When parliament tried to ban fox hunting I was very pleased but in the end it didn't get through so then I was disappointed.

I feel very strongly about animal cruelty and I wish there was more I could do that I haven't done already.

I wouldn't like it if I was hunted down and made into a coat or kept in a tiny cage.

Animals have feelings too."
