  A school trip to Hogwarts
Updated 16 November 2001, 20.52

Ellen, 8, went to a mass screening of the new Harry Potter film with her school.

"When my friend told me our school was going to see the Harry Potter film I didn't believe her. But then my teacher told the whole class, so I knew it must be true.

Huge fan

Press Packer Ellen
I was very excited because I am a huge fan of Harry Potter.

I have read all the books and listened to all the audio tapes, and I have lots of other Harry Potter stuff, like wizard's clothes, a broomstick and an owl puppet.

Everyone in the school from Year 2 to 6 was invited.

The children in Year 1 and Reception classes were too young, which is a shame, because my little brother Jamie had to stay behind in school!

Munch boxes

When we walked through the park to the cinema, I could sense that my class was very excited, and it did not feel like a normal school day.

In the cinema, they gave us all "munch boxes" containing popcorn, sweets and a drink.

When the lights went down and the film started, everyone started cheering and shrieking with delight.

I thought the film was absolutely brilliant. It is quite long but I was hanging onto every word, even though I knew the story.

They left out a few little bits from the book, but nothing important. The Quidditch match wasn't how I had imagined it in my head, but it was still fun.

The children who played the parts of Harry, Ron and Hermione were really good. It was difficult to believe they were acting. Hogwarts School looked amazing, especially the bit when it was Christmas.

Best idea school ever had

It was quite scary in some places, but it was the most exciting film I have ever seen. At the end everyone clapped, whistled and cheered.

In my opinion, taking us to see the film was the best idea the school has ever had.

It was an incredible day!"
