  Exclusive Xbox review
Updated 15 November 2001, 16.05

Stephen, 13, is the first child in Europe to see the new Microsoft Xbox. Here's what he thought of it.

It's so cool being one of the first people to try out the new Xbox! I've had a go at all the games consoles around, so I really wanted to see what the Xbox is like.

And I think it's really good - the games are really cool because the graphics are so well done. There's lots of variety to the games - some are really realistic and some are just really fun.

Mega powerful

Microsoft, the makers of the Xbox, is an American company and the other console makers - Nintendo and Sony - are in Japan.

Microsoft's Xbox

I think the Japanese are more inventive, so maybe some of the Xbox games are not as imaginative.

But the graphics should be good! It's three times more powerful than any of the latest consoles - and I think they've done a really good job.

Worth the price tag?

At 299 it is very expensive. But it's got a DVD, broadband internet access and a hard drive, so I think it's worth it because it's like a whole entertainment system in itself.

If I had one in my room I wouldn't leave except to get food and a drink - my mum would go mad!

Stephen putting the Xbox through it's paces

I get 12 a week pocket money, so it would take me ages to save for it, but I saved up for the Dreamcast before. I think if you really want it you will save for it.

Battle of the consoles

Even though Sega stopped selling Dreamcast this year, I think it was just because people weren't buying it, not that it was a bad console.

I think Microsoft has lots of money to spend on marketing so I think the Xbox will do well and people will buy it. We've got until March to save anyway!
