Go green and hop on a bus
Updated 06 November 2001, 09.25
Pollution in Britain
Kelly, 13, writes about how she thinks Britain should tackle pollution problems.

There's far too much pollution in this world and I think it's about time we did something about it.

Red bus
For starters there are too many cars on the roads. People find it too easy to jump into their cars - sometimes it's just to pop down to the local supermarket.

If the public transport prices were much cheaper would you use them? I would!

Get into walking

We could get buses that take people into town and back home again, to run more regularly.

People should get more into walking. Parents should club together and drive a group of children to school, which would reduce the amount of cars on the roads.

Cycle clubs

Another idea I have had is that we should have cycling clubs. This will teach you how to cycle safely and it will also keep you fit.

Boy riding a bike
Bikes are easy to keep and store because they take up less parking space than a car.

Something needs to be done

If we can do something about the cars now then we've got a chance to preserve the environment.

I hope the government will realise that something needs to be done right now!
