  "Streets getting worse"
Updated 25 October 2001, 20.01
Street in London
Jessica writes about crime on the streets near her.

"In London the streets are getting worse.

Around Bermondsey where I live, people walk around the streets and see when you're on your own.

They see what people have on. They choose what they will have off you, like jewellery.

You can't wear it nowadays, you don't know what will happen to it, so watch out.

They ask for your phone

One of the ways this can happen is they'll ask you for the time - then ask about your phone.

It also happens at schools. Some schools have had to have assemblies to tell children to hide their phones or not to bring them to school.

I know what it feels like, so be careful on the streets."
