I was guest editor for Newsround's website
Updated 24 April 2003, 08.03
Guest Editor
Jonathan was guest editor at our website for the day.

Here's what he got up to.

11:00am
My day starts by meeting the team in the extremely colourful Newsround online office. Everyone is very friendly and I am having a wicked time.

After having a photo (or two!) and receiving a guest editor pass, I then wrote my views online about the S Club split, checked out the latest on the site and continued with my diary.

11:45am
Jonathan gets down to work
More photos have been taken around this BBC building, while having a little tour. It's really interesting seeing how its all done inside a real news office.

12:00pm
Next is where I decide what stories you are reading on the website at the regular Newsround online meeting. I am helping with chucking out some stories and keeping others!

The team also had a surprise for me - watch out for it later! We then found out what was on the TV show. It was really interesting to find out how it is done. Now I am off to lunch!

Afternoon
Jonathan has a laugh with the web team
Got back from lunch and I was working straight on the comments page to disclose my views about St Georges Day.

I then start working on a story about the Rear of the Year competition. I got to learn about the Newsround publishing software and how and why the website looks like it does.

4.00-5.25pm
Next I walked to the world famous Television Centre, and had a look around. I got to see the Blue Peter garden and the TOTP Star Bar, as well as the canteen and all the dressing rooms.

Jonathan thinks hard about what stories to write
Next I decided to go to the Newsround office and meet all the presenters and the production team. I then got showed around all the production and editing rooms before going to the Newsround set for a rehearsal.

5.25pm
After a couple of rehearsals, we get the one-minute call and it all goes to frenzy on the set! The live transmission is over before I know it and I had my 'fifteen seconds of fame'!

After saying goodbye to the lovely Ellie, I came back to the Newsround Online office and finished off my diary. I received some wicked BBC goodies and had a brilliant day!
