This summer has seen some of the most powerful hurricanes ever.
Hurricane Ivan is tearing it's way through the Cayman Islands after already devastating the Caribbean and Jamaica.
Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances caused mayhem, crashing through Florida one after the other.
Did you have to cancel your summer holiday this year, or did you spend it boarded up in a hotel basement?

It was the last day of our holiday in Florida when Charley hit and the eye came right near us. We were lucky as an extra plane was put in and we were only delayed for a day, but if it hadn't then it would've been at least 10 days delay. The airport was manic as everyone was desperately trying to see if their plane was flying out that day or not. I'm glad that we don't get hurricanes in Britain or it would be mayhem here as well. I went to Florida and hurricane charley was there while we were. We were evacuated from a house we were staying in and put in a hotel on the 18th floor. On the night it happened all our room was shaking and we thought the window was going to give way. Where we were was hit really badly by the eye of the storm we had no power for ages and the house we were staying in was badly damaged. It was a really scary experience! Karen, 12, Tunbridge Wells

I was in Florida when hurricane Charley hit and had to be evacuated from St Petersburg back up to Orlando but then it changed its paths and hit Orlando. it was really scary as we had to stay in the hotel. Alex, 15, Liverpool
In Scotland we had the tail end of Hurricane Ivan. Luckily it wasn't so bad that people died and no houses were wrecked. A few trees were blown right over but that was the worst. It's a shame that some countries weren't as lucky. Rachel, 11, Greenock
I was stuck in Hurricane Charlie and was there for four days and finally got home on the Thursday when we were meant to leave on Saturday after living in a really bad hotel and we had to fly to Philadelphia and then back to Glasgow. Euan, 12, Lanark
I was in Orlando when Hurricane Charley came. We had to stay in our hotel all night so we could not get any food. In the morning I saw loads of trees down, car windscreens smashed and tiles of houses on the ground. We had no electricity for a while. Andrew, 12, Brighton
I was on holiday in America when Hurricane Charley hit. We arrived the day before and had to stay in the room all night. The day after everybody just gets on with the clearing up and it looks like there hasn't been one a few days after. It's amazing how quick they get it done. Lucy, 11, Scunthorpe

I went to Florida this summer and right in the middle of our holiday we were struck by Hurricane charley. We Were lucky to be where we were because we didn't get damaged but when we saw what other places were like it was scary to think that it could of been us. I was in hurricane Charley on my holiday. All the power went out and we ran out of petrol due to shortages. Our pool canopy got ripped from the house and was found later that night in our neighbour's pool. :( Alex, 15, Hull
I had only lived in FL for like a month when Hurricane Francis hit. Luckily Hurricane Charley did not hit me where I am. Hurricane Ivan will not hit me either, but where I am, we will get tropical force storm winds. I feel so sorry for all the people. Especially the town of Punta Gorda who got hit by all 3 hurricanes. Just a few months before I was born, Hurricane Hugo directly hit Charleston, South Carolina, were I lived for the first 6 months of my life. I guess you could say I have partially been caught in a hurricane. Kaitlynn, 14, Knoxville
There was a hurricane in Denmark in 1999. It was a horrible. No electricity, it was in the evening in December so it was dark outside and inside. Pieces of roof were flying everywhere. But that hurricane was probably nothing compared to the hurricanes in America!! Catherine, 12, Newbury
Thankfully I haven't been hit by a hurricane. I feel sorry for the people who did and it must be hard living without electricity and lights, so I am glad and thankful that it didn't happen to me. Lois, 14, Manchester

I was in Florida when Frances came and it was right in the middle of my holiday. It wasn't that bad but we were stuck in our hotel rooms for 2 days. Jen, 15, Gloucester
I was in Orlando when Charley came. Our flight to NY was cancelled and we had to stay in the hotel. There were sirens and car alarms going off and trees got ripped out of the ground. All the cable in the hotel went out and some of the windows were broken from flying debris.

We were stuck in Hurricane Frances. We were delayed 4 days and were stuck inside, trees were collapsing all over the place and everywhere was closed.

I've never been hit by a hurricane but it looks really scary and I feel really sorry for everyone who lives there and their houses have been damaged!

Me and my family were on our way home from Florida when Charley struck. We were stuck at the airport and it lost electricity and went dark for a while. It was crazy.
