Have you been hit by the hurricanes?
Updated 14 September 2004, 18.45
hurricane comments
This summer has seen some of the most powerful hurricanes ever.

Hurricane Ivan is tearing it's way through the Cayman Islands after already devastating the Caribbean and Jamaica.

Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances caused mayhem, crashing through Florida one after the other.

Did you have to cancel your summer holiday this year, or did you spend it boarded up in a hotel basement?

Have you been affected by the hurricanes? E-mail and let us know.

opening quoteIt was the last day of our holiday in Florida when Charley hit and the eye came right near us. We were lucky as an extra plane was put in and we were only delayed for a day, but if it hadn't then it would've been at least 10 days delay. The airport was manic as everyone was desperately trying to see if their plane was flying out that day or not. I'm glad that we don't get hurricanes in Britain or it would be mayhem here as well.closing quote
Hannah, 14, Burton

opening quoteI got caught in Hurricane Francis in Orlando. To be honest it wasn't that bad. TV Channels made it seem very daunting and bad but we got off lucky.closing quote
Louise, 15, Birmingham

opening quoteI went to Florida and hurricane charley was there while we were. We were evacuated from a house we were staying in and put in a hotel on the 18th floor. On the night it happened all our room was shaking and we thought the window was going to give way. Where we were was hit really badly by the eye of the storm we had no power for ages and the house we were staying in was badly damaged. It was a really scary experience!closing quote

opening quoteI was on holiday in America when Hurricane Charley hit. We arrived the day before and had to stay in the room all night. The day after everybody just gets on with the clearing up and it looks like there hasn't been one a few days after. It's amazing how quick they get it done.closing quote
