Updated 20 August 2004, 11.03
cars are overturned in the heavy storms
Heavy storms have lashed the UK once again, with flash floods causing devastation to a village in Cornwall.

So has this left you wondering what on earth is going on with the weather?

Are you worried about the weird weather we're having this so-called summer?

Does it scare you that our climate seems to be behaving so strangely?

Or do you just put it down to a freak occurrence?

E-mail and let us know.

opening quoteYeah I'm seriously worried! Especially as it's so unpredictable. It's like a scene from 'the day after tomorrow' it's a scary thought not knowing what is going to happen.closing quote
Gemma, 15, London

opening quoteIt's getting really frightening now. Every time I come on this website, there's always news of a flood or really bad weather somewhere in the UK. It's worrying.closing quote
Sarah, 15, Birmingham

opening quoteI hate the weather - you can't plan where you are going as you don't know what the weather is going to be like.closing quote
Raq, 12, Manchester

opening quoteI think we need to do something about global warming or else the next generation may not be living in peace.closing quote
Suzanne, 11, Coleford

opening quoteIf it's anything to do with global warming, it could only get worse. It's probably just a freak incident, though.closing quote
Charlotte, 15, Kingston

opening quoteTo be honest I am terrified. To think that by the time I am older and get a job the weather could be so bad. I'm not sure if that will be the end of this planet but global warming is very worrying.closing quote
Rebecca, 14, Birmingham

opening quoteThe bad weather is a bit scary, but also very fun! It's a shame it hasn't been as hot a summer as last year, but now I'm back at school, if it keeps raining we will get the day off because there are so many leaks in our school building!!closing quote
Abi, 14, Edinburgh

opening quoteI was in Florida just a week before the hurricane hit and so I realise how lucky I am that I just missed it. I'm not worried that the rain and storms we have been getting is to do with global warming as I heard it was all because of the hurricane; we were getting the end of it.closing quote
Mel, 14, York

opening quoteI think it's horrible! Spring was really hot here in Indiana, then it rained nearly every day and was cool in summer, and now the leaves are even starting to turn colours, to months before they're supposed to!closing quote
Kimberley, 15, USA

opening quoteI was in hurricane charley. Trees were knocked over, even strong ones. It was scary because we kept on hearing these weird noises like ghosts through the trees.closing quote
Beatrix, 10, Florida

opening quoteWe don't get much floods here. I like thunderstorms, I love to watch them but I occasionally scream when the thunder is loud. But it is fun. I just don't want floods.closing quote
Laura, 12, Glasgow

opening quoteI'm worried, not for me but for relatives who live by rivers and things. Where I am it's been thunder and lightning but other than that light showers on and off so I still went out with my mates. I think it's a bit freaky though. I'm not REALLY worried.closing quote
Sian, 13, Leicester

opening quoteI am not worried about the weather cos all it is the tail end of hurricanes Bonnie and Charley from America. Once the hurricanes stopped the weather will get better I thinkclosing quote
Hari, 15, Wales

opening quoteIn Gosport, the weather just keeps changing. It starts raining then it stops then starts again. Its so unpredictable, it's becoming a bit of a pain!closing quote
Louis, 11, Gosport

opening quoteI think weather is coming over from France, because of the storms everyone thinks it's changing. I think it is just coming from abroad.closing quote
Jenny, 13, Telford

opening quoteI am worried about global warming, but I doubt will we be engulfed in a new ice age. I can't believe what we have done to the world though, we caused this and there is no shifting the blame.closing quote
Imogen, 13, Isle of Wight

opening quoteI'm not worried so much as disappointed that it was in the summer holidays! As soon as we get back to school, it will be lovely weather!closing quote
Gemma, 14, Plymouth

opening quoteI want to know what the weather will be like in the future, if no one does anything about global warming. It's kind of scary that all these hurricanes and floods are suddenly starting to happen IN THE SUMMER!!closing quote
Imo, 12, Cambridge

opening quoteTwo years ago I went to the village of Boscastle. It was a really nice village that had nice scenery. I am going to a place nearby Boscastle in a week and we were going to go back there but we cant now. It is devastating how it can change from a beautiful village which attracts many tourists, to the state it is in now in a matter of hours.closing quote
Charlotte,12, London

opening quoteI'm not really worried about the weather but I do like the rain that we've had. I just hope we don't get too muchclosing quote
Charlotte, 13, Stevenage

opening quoteI hate the rain it's meant to be summer now I'm stuck indoors great holidays!closing quote
Betsy, 11, Derby

opening quoteI'd prefer it to be freezing than scorching hot. You can always put more clothes on if it's cold.closing quote
David, 12, Cardiff

opening quoteI do think all this weird weather is freaky. It reminds me of "The Day After Tomorrow" but hey, I live in Wales I'm use to the rain and wind :)!closing quote
Sian, 14, Swansea

opening quoteIn the US lately there have there had been a couple of dreadful hurricanes which caused so much damage! I am very fortunate that I don't live in the east coast but in the west coast there has been some heavy rain. On the weather reports it reported that there are strong chances of floods! I hope everything turns out to be okay!closing quote
Angelina, 12, USA

opening quoteI think it is strange but doesn't it have something to do with global warming maybe? What's it gonna be like in winter if it is like this in summer? It is rather worrying, I think people need to start preparing for such crazy weather and soon!closing quote
Jenny, 13, Tilehurst

opening quoteI'm just fed up of all this rain and wind. I've even given up using my hair straighteners because every time I go out, the weather ruins my perfectly straight barnet. Call this summer?closing quote
Jessica, 15, Manchester

opening quoteI don't know. I think everyone has been expecting a nice summer like we had last year but instead we've had all of these storms. I reckon we just need to keep our eye on the weather and see what happens.closing quote
Sarah, 15, Birmingham

opening quoteI am worried 'cos I am going to go to Florida next year. We always have heavy rain in York. Like this morning.closing quote
Rachel, 11, York

opening quoteSomething weird is going on. I think it's something to do with global warming. Scaryclosing quote
Katy, 14, London

opening quoteIt's bad news for Cornwall. And we've had thunder but we've got to understand that in Florida, it's much worse with Hurricane Charley and the floods in Bangladesh are far more worse than any other year for at least a decade. So in that sense we're pretty lucky!closing quote
Nowrin, 10, Nottingham

opening quoteI think that the weather at the moment is awful!! Some of my friends were in Cornwall and Florida during the recent storms so they were lucky that they got through the weather unharmed! I think that this should kick-start the world to stop polluting the earth so that things like this do not happen.closing quote
Olivia, 13, Guildford

opening quoteI don't feel scared, because I live in a hilly area, so there's no chance of flooding. I would get scared if we started having hurricanes in London though. And I'd be scared if I lived in Cornwall!closing quote
Lily, 14, London

opening quoteThe weird weather is one of the many weird and unfortunate things that happen in life and I feel sorry for the people who have lost their homes which are their pride and joy.closing quote
Luke, 12, Birmingham

opening quoteI'm not that worried as there isn't much chance of a flood near where I live but it must be worrying for those who live in places where there is a chance of a flood.closing quote
Sophie, 12, East Sussex

opening quoteI'm not worried - I'm MAD! We haven't had a summer yet!closing quote
Clemmie, 11, Chalfont

opening quoteIt's global warming that's doing all this weird weather. The way the world's going I wouldn't be surprised if it gets worse.closing quote
Jimi, 13, Lowestoft

opening quoteI love this weather, but it is rather worrying thinking what it will be like in the future with global warming and such. I think with what happened in Cornwall should be a wake up call to people and they should start trying to take care of the planet more. Although, I think the damage has already been done.closing quote
Maisy, 14, Southampton

opening quoteWe can't change it, can't do anything about, so why worry? Just like life, it just goes its course...closing quote
Victoria, 15, Oslo

opening quoteWhat's really freaky was I have just come back from my two week holiday and it was only 12 days ago that I was in Boscastle in the sunshine having a photo taken of me on the bridge which is now covered in muddy water and remains of cars and buildings. It's just a freaky thought.closing quote
Rachel, 14, Hitchin

Hazel, 13, Cambridge

opening quoteMy little sister gets really scared of all this freaky weather. I've got to keep telling her that the loud noise in the sky is God moving his furniture and when it rains it's just God watering his plants. I just hope it brightens up soon so that she'll stop asking awkward questions!closing quote
Lizzie, 13, Manchester

opening quoteI suppose where we live we are not exactly going to have floods but in other parts of England there may be a risk of flooding.closing quote
