This year will be remembered as the one when Lord Of The Rings dominated the Oscars.
The third film in the trilogy - Return Of The King - picked up every single award for which it was nominated.
It went home with a whopping 11 statuettes.
The previous two films had limited success at the Oscars.

 YES!!! It definitely deserved it's 11 Oscars - the only problem is that it didn't get all the other awards too! Elijah Wood deserved Best Actor... but I'm REALLY happy that it got all 11!! Amanda, 11, USA

Oh, definitely, look at what they are up against. Compared to the other films, LOTR definitely deserved all 11 awards for the hard effort and amazing talent. This film was a phenomenon. Lucy, 16, Canada
It deserved more than 11!!! I think that Sean Astin should have been nominated for (and got!) the Best Supporting Actor award. He played Sam so well you could really feel his emotions and he made hundreds of people cry when Frodo said he was going on alone. Rachel, 12, Cambridge
I don't think LOTR should have won as many Oscars because the film is to long, boring and I fell asleep through the first film. I think that Pirates of the Caribbean should have won more Oscars than LOTR because it is funny, action packed and also Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are gorgeous.
