There are plans to put webcams in some classes to make kids behave.
The idea is that you won't mess about because your parents can see what you're up to.
Do you think it's a good idea? Do you think it would make kids behave?
Or would you feel uncomfortable having cameras spying on you in class?
I think that is a good idea. The cameras would be able to see who disrupts the class and who gets on well.
Jack, 11, Barnsley
They would be OK in the halls I could live with that but at my old school, they would be trashed and would have to be repaired every couple of days! It would be like Big Brother-no privacy. Anyway, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my work if we had them in class ooooh-creepy!
Maddy, 13, Dorset
I think that it's a good idea because it would stop classroom bullying, which I have been a victim of in the past. It's a great idea, hope that the government spend more money on this!
Brian, 11, Belfast
In corridors it would be fine and maybe normal cameras could be installed in classrooms IF and ONLY IF that particular class was a problem and teachers had to get to the bottom of it. Permanent webcams in all classrooms (not to mention it being braodcasted to our parents *CRINGE*) would be a violation of our privacy. I would feel uncomfortabe, awkward and embarrassed considering that all my actions are being taped. I say NO to class webcams.
Lily,14, Lancaster
I think that webcams would be okay if you got a chance to see what's really going on. I don't think that they should have one in every classroom, just monitoring the hallways.
Rebecca, 12, North East
Definitely not, I'd hate to be watched the whole time! At lunchtimes we mess around and have fun in our form room, if we had security cameras in there we'd probably get banned from our form room! I don't think schools need CCTV cameras, unless there's a major problem in student behaviour. Most won't be able to afford loads of cameras anyway!
Sara, 14, Kent
No way, that would be awful! The only good thing about school is so your parents don't know what you're up to. All they should do is get teachers to keep a close eye in the playground and corridors at break and lunch - it works in my school! Spying on us is just evil :(
Sarah, 13, Ireland
Webcams?!? It would never work, and even if they were put in, people would just trash them...
James, 12, Durham
NO WAY! I don't think it's fair, I would feel really uncomfortable knowing that cameras are watching me and I don't want my parents seeing everything that goes on at school! All our privacy will just be took over give us a bit of respect!!
Becky, 13, Sheffield
I think in some places it would be appropriate like the corridor. In some schools there would be a big difference and it might cut down on bullying but we do all need some privacy.
Caitlin, 10, Aberdeen
I think that I would like the web-cams in class because it would crack down on bullying and teachers will be able to know who are the real trouble makers so that the whole class don't have to get into trouble. I think that there would be a decrease in bullying and pupils will be more attentive in class if they know they are being watched so I think webcams are a really good idea!!!
Tarini, 12, Bickley
Well, I dunno really, I would quite like it, cos if I had to tell my mum something important, I could do it easily with a web cam! Yeah, sounds ok to me!
Ceri, 14, Monmouth
I think it would be great, it would catch all the annoying people would throw and destroy everyone's stuff. In our school the teachers just ignore these kind of people so it could be used to assess the teachers and crack down on bullying.
Grace, 15, Tavistock
It's quite good in one way and quite bad in another. People would be able to see who was messing about so they wouldn't punish everyone but kids wouldn't be able to concentrate and your head teacher would know everything you do or say. That would be annoying cos you might be saying horrible stuff about your head teacher!
Zoe, 11, Fleet
I think webcams are a good idea because if there's someone being bullied in school the teachers will know were the bullying is taking place, and teachers can tell the parents of the person being bullied that they are being bullied and the parents will need to know in case the child doesn't tell.
Jo, 10, Lancaster
NO WAY... I wouldn't concentrate because I would be wondering where the cameras are and who would be watching me, I would feel like a criminal.
Rachel, 14, Grantham
I don't think the webcams would be fair to kids that behave, and if they do this on the internet anyone could be watching you!
Sara, 13, Bedfordshire
This is a good idea because if a pupil or a teacher was picking on you your parents would see.
Amanda, 13, Belfast
It's the most STUPID idea I've ever heard of!! If they want us to stop messing about well do something else about! Come on you've got to give us a bit of respect!!
Phoebe, 9, Norwich
I think webcams are a good idea. People will be able to find out who disrupts the class, and the people that want to learn can learn.
Jessica, 11, Barnsley
I think it would be quite good because it would catch all the people who are always messing about, stopping you from learning. If you don't mess about you have nothing to worry about. It would also stop the whole class having to stay behind because they would know who did what and who didn¿t.

Nicola, 14, Middlesex
I think it's a VERY bad idea. What if they caught something on tape that we REALLY didn¿t want anyone to see.

Katie, 13, London
I don't think it would work, the students wouldn't be concentrating, they'd be thinking about the cameras all the time, looking for them...I don't think teachers would like them either.

Cindy, 13
EEEEEK! No way! I don't want my mum and dad to know what I get up to at school! That's my business! What do they think we are, serial killers?

Laura, 13, Southampton
Absolutely! Just yesterday somebody threw a rubber in my eye and I was nearly blinded. Schools would be a better place if I knew that people could see everything.

James, 12, Ettrick
Very bad idea. I'd hate my parents watching me 24h/day!!! Besides, parents of kids who behave badly often don't care, so it wouldn't solve much. Teachers and students would just feel uncomfortable and class participation would shoot down!!! Imagine doing a book report on internet!
Beatrice, 13, France
It would be awful! You don't want your parents knowing everything about you! What about privacy?
