It seems no matter hard we try, us Brits never seem to win any major international sports tournaments (except darts!). We're doing pretty badly in the Ashes right now!
Many countries have sports academies, like Belgium's tennis academy. Do you think that Britain could do with something like this to help us do better?
Or do you think we do pretty well at sports any way, and that it's just a lot of fuss over nothing?
Football is considered to be our main sport so we can't be expected to produce the goods in any other sport! It's pointless trying to imagine that we could produce the goods week in week out. James, 12, Shrewsbury
Nah, we're ok considering the size and population of other countries like the US. Danielle, 14, Liverpool
I think the schools we go to should raise money to buy more sport facilities to encourage more pupils to get involved in the sports they like. Danyka, 12, Redruth
I think it is unfair the way people always put down some of England's sport people. We did really well at the commonwealth games this year and Tim Henman got to the semi-finals. I think people should think of everything england has achieved before what it hasn't.
 Jo, 14, Hinckley
The goverment needs to pump more money into sport at youth level, like they did in Austrlaia- now look where they are.
 John, 14, Fareham
I think we need to improve. So many people look up to sports people, and if Britain do better at sport then it would also inspire more of the younger generation to take up more sporting activities.
 Amy, 14
Overall Britain are terrible at sports! But people are just to ashamed to admit it, that's all. Look at us! We invented football but we can't even win the world cup- let alone tennis! And it's all because of one thing, it's our schools! They don't have good enough equipment.
 Joshua, 14
I think the standard of sport in schools is dropping due to unhealthy eating and other ways of spending free time!
 David, 14, Herts
I think that England aren't that good at anything really. Even though we came close to winning the world cup we didn't come close enough. When Tim Henman decides to retire from tennis I'm not so sure that we will have good players like him for a while yet. Only 2 of the British team are in the top 100.
 Jenny, 14, London
Not really I think that Britain do very well when it comes to sports. I mean you did very well in the winter olympics, the commonwealth games and the world cup.
 Brid, 13, Dublin
Why can't people just enjoy sport instead of trying to win all the time? After all it's not the winning that's important it's the having fun and coming together as a nation.
 Jade, 13, Laleham
We are really good at some sports but we can't win at everything. We are who we are, and so we and try our best and that's what counts!
 Charlotte, 12, Taunton
No! We are already very talented with football and occasionally tennis. What people don't realise is that good young players aren't spotted and we need a bit of fresh blood!
 Laura and Sim, 13, Southampton
I think England are great at sport, look how close we came to winning the World Cup. Give the lads a break.
 Karena, 12, Stoke on Trent
We need to do better at sport, when we do well the whole nation is happier.
 John, 12, Derby
No! We're good enough as we are- people should stop criticising! Becca, 13, Maidenhead
We are 3rd in the rugby world rankings, and we were top less than a year ago. Adam, 17
England are excellent at some sports!!! We have some of the best skateboarders in the world (Tom Penny, Jeff Rowley are examples). Plus Steve Peat recently won the downhill mountainbike World Cup, and is on the way to becoming world champ! Football isn't the only sport in the world!
