On Wednesday night, in a Champion's League football match against Spain's Deportivo La Coruna, David Beckham was tackled and had a bone in his foot broken.
Doctors are hopeful he'll be able to play during the World Cup, but his recovery in time isn't certain.
Do England need David to win? Or is he just one among many?
Should Becks have been risked in a match like this so soon before a World Cup?

Beckham is an inspiration to England and we need him to win the World Cup

I don't think that David Beckham will be able to play in the World Cup and I really think the rest of the team needs him to win.

Beckham will be ready for the World Cup and the Champions League final, you mark my words.
Declan, 15, N. Ireland
We have the most difficult World Cup group and without our best player it's even more impossible. How is Owen going to score without him?
Emily, 12, Burnely
England isn't a one man team. David Beckham is important and the team will struggle but there is a lot of other good players so I'm sure they will cope!
Jazz, 13, Brackley
I think the England team are excellent and would have had a good chance in this year's World Cup. However due to Beckham's recent accident, Sven and his men can kiss the cup goodbye. It's just not the same without him!
Melissa, 13, Crewe
The rest of the team wouldn't have been picked if he was the only player with talent.
Maddi, 13, Canterbury
England can keep dreaming about the World Cup even without Beckham, but they will struggle to beat "world class" teams like the mighty Argentina.
Sarai, 10, Oxford
I think David Beckham is the best player in the world.
Sam, 10, Aberdeen
It's too early to tell...Maybe the rest of the team will be able to see them successfully through the World Cup.
Jade, 13, Manchester
I feel very sorry for David Beckham. He loves being on pitch and playing in every match. And now he is going to miss out on playing in a huge event. I hope he can recover. So he can at least play in the World Cup finals. Good luck David.
Jane, 11, Churchdown
I think England might OR might not do well without Becks. They might because they have good fill ins like Paul Scholes, Steve McManaman or Keiron Dyer BUT they don't have ANY one as FANTASTIC at free kicks as Becks. Let's just hope he recovers quickly.
Ryan, 13, Newbury
No. Beckham is our best and most talented player, he's not easy to replace and we don't have anyone of his quality to replace him with. He's the heart of our plays and were nothing special without him.
Jo, 12, Stoke
Becks is the best. If it wasn't for him we would lose everything!!
T West, 12, Belfast
It'll be very tough for us without our key player. We may not even be in the World Cup if it wasn't for David and his goal. Lets hope it heals quickly.
Holly, Birmingham
England will not be the same with out David Beckham but with the other great players we can win!!!!!
Scott, 15, Northwich
I think that Beckham rules and that if he is unable to play England will have to pull out ALL the stops to win, but go England! & GET WELL SOON DAVE!!!!
Amanda, 13, Ballinamallard
Yes ! Definitely !
Freya, 12
Beckham is vital to the success of England in the World Cup. Without him I do not see England progressing beyond the Group stages, even with the talent of Owen and co.
Rich, 16
I think that this will be the perfect chance for all the rest of the England team to show off their talents and score the goals.
Holly, 14, Barnsley
I'm a big Man U fan. What annoys me is how people's attitudes have changed. If this had been in the middle of the season, everyone would have laughed because it only would have affected Man U. Now it's nearly the World Cup, everybody cares. It's not fair, people only care because of England's hopes, not Man U's or Beckham's.
Emma, 14, Uxbridge
Uh, hello, has everyone forgotten that Beckham is not the only player on the England team? It is not all down to him to win the World Cup.
Kim, 12, Reading
Beckham ruined the last World Cup by getting sent off against Argentina, if he misses this World Cup he'll ruin this one as well.
Dale, 13, Thurso
England will cope all right without David Beckham
Karen, 16, Wokingham
I think Beckham is a great player but I don't think England will do badly just because he is out. They've still got plenty of world class players.
Max, 11, Glasgow
How did England get into the World Cup? Who scored the goal? Beckham and without him there is no such thing as England.
David, 10, Darlington
The team not be as good without him, but England will cope, hey they still have Micheal Owen, right?
Kai, 12
Beckham rules, without him England are doomed!
