  Natalie Imbruglia
Updated 06 November 2001, 10.54
Natalie Imbruglia
Natalie Imbruglia, whose eagerly-awaited new single That Day entered the charts at number 11, took some time out to answer some of your questions.

Yolanda, 13, Luton
Where have you been for so long and what have you been up to?

Natalie: I took a year off and did a couple of songs for films, Identify for the Stigmata soundtrack and a song with Nick Seymour from Crowded House for a film called Go plus a duet with Tom Jones for his Reload album. Then the song writing process took 12 months and then the album took two years to make.

Tina, 13, Leicester
Do you prefer your hair short or long?

Natalie: Long at the moment, I'm going to grow it even longer.

Lioma, 10, Halifax
Are you married Natalie, or do you have a boyfriend?

Natalie: I'm not married but I have a boyfriend.

Pavendeep, 9, Ilford
Would you ever return to Neighbours?

Natalie: I don't think so. It would be funny if all the old cast returned though.

Laura, 12, Newcastle
How old were you when you decided you wanted to be a singer?

Natalie: I've loved singing since I was very young. I started singing lessons when I was 13.

Matthew, 18, Walton
Where did the name for your forthcoming album, White Lilies Island, come from?

Natalie: I live on an island in Windsor called White Lilies Island, so a lot of the songs were written there.

Hope
Your new song, That Day, is very different from Torn, so what inspired such a change in style?

Natalie: Going on tour definitely had an impact on my new album. I wanted a more of a 'live band' sound and I chose 'That Day' because it was so different from Torn.

Sharon, 11, Birmingham
How can we become pop stars at the age of 11?

Natalie: Take singing lessons, learn an instrument, start young and practice hard.

Scott, 16, Burton
Do you still see or speak to any of the Neighbours cast?

Natalie: Kimberly Davis (who played Annalise) is a good friend of mine who's living in LA right now.

Philippa, 10, Halesowen
Other than Neighbours, what is your favourite soap?

Natalie: Frasier

Kea-ra, 10, Billingham
What's it like being a pop star?

Natalie: It's good fun, I get to travel all over the world, singing my songs but it's hard work too.

Katie, 13, Oxfordshire
Which is harder - acting or singing?

Natalie: Both come naturally to me. The hard part is pushing the boundaries and growing and being willing to make mistakes.

Katherine, 11, Driffield
Who is your favourite singer?

Natalie: Ricky Lee Jones's voice and Bono.

Heather, 10, Aberdeen
When you going to do a UK tour?

Natalie: I will be going on a worldwide tour from the middle of next year but I'm not sure which country it will start in.

Jemma, 15, Belfast
Who do you most admire in life and why?

Natalie: My big sister, she has a great outlook on life and is a real survivor.

Natalie's new album White Lilies Island, came out this week.
