Court battle saves Dino the dog
Updated 15 October 2004, 14.42
Dino the dog
Dino the dog has been saved after his owner spent three-and-a-half years battling in court on his behalf.

Judges placed a destruction order on Dino in 2001 after he attacked another dog and bit the owner as well.

A destruction order means that Dino has to be put to sleep by law as he's considered a danger to the public.

But on Friday his owner, Bryan Lamont, appeared at Northampton Crown Court and managed to persuade the magistrates to change their minds.

It was Dino's last chance before the order would have been carried out, but the magistrates decided that he was not a threat to the public after all.

Bryan Lamont, from Northampton, who has been fighting for his dog's life for three and a half years, said he was "absolutely delighted" with the result.

Dino's family have been to lots of different courts to try and save Dino, spending an estimated £60,000.
